Overview

The Lead Irrigation Technician is skilled in installing and servicing irrigation systems for our esteemed clients. As the lead technician, you will have the opportunity to work closely with landscape and maintenance lead technicians to ensure the efficient mapping out of irrigation areas, digging trenches, installing equipment, testing the system, and conducting regular maintenance checks. A top-level Irrigation Technician can professionally install any sized irrigation system that perfectly meets each client's unique needs.

To ensure success as an irrigation technician, you should exhibit a strong work ethic, perform responsibilities independently, have detailed knowledge of irrigation techniques, and be self-motivated, focused, thorough, and willing to adapt. This is a front-facing role for our company, and this person needs to be polite and consistent in their responsibilities and maintain professional and effective communication with clients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Install and maintain irrigation controllers, piping, and valves.

Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical components on irrigation controllers.

Drive to the client’s location.

Test the soil and vegetation to determine irrigation needs.

Map out areas for irrigation installation.

Digging trenches and installing pipes and lines.

Installing pumps and electrical timers.

Conduct routine maintenance checks.

Troubleshooting and replacing faulty parts.

Complete progress reports and associated paperwork.

Perform seasonal system maintenance/winterizations.

Perform regular tests/audits to assess water efficiency.

Read diagrams to locate irrigation valves and wiring.

Record and maintain irrigation inventory.

Ability to supervise and train a crew.

Assist with the planning and organizing of the job site.

Working Conditions

The job involves occasional physical activity, such as standing and reaching, and extended periods of sitting. There may be times when evening and weekend work is necessary to meet client requirements and deadlines.
